Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay (STSTB) is a Transportation Consortium with the mandate to deliver Transportation Services for the 3 school boards in Thunder Bay. Through the formulation of this consortium we are striving for a fair and consistent policy that has been approved by the member Boards.

2024-2025 Eligibility Distances for School Bus Transportation
Transportation may be provided for students that have a transportation residential address within the school catchment zone that is greater than the distance shown below from the school:
JK/SK greater than 0.8 kilometres from school
Grade 1-8 greater than 1.6 kilometres from school
Grade 9-12 greater than 3.2 kilometres from school
Students who are eligible for school bus transportation are also expected to walk to and from regular school bus stop locations based on their grade as indicated below:

JK/SK up to 400 Metres*
Grade 1-8 up to 800 Metres*
Grade 9-12 up to 1600 Metres*
*Distance to bus stop may be greater in areas not accessible by school bus or restricted by Transportation Policy
