Request for 2020-2021 Senior Student Transportation Now Open

Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay is requesting online registration for eligible students requiring transportation who are attending any senior elementary or secondary school next year. In effort to provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation, this process assists in planning for efficient bus routes for the new school year.

The online Application for 2020-2021 Senior Elementary School (grades 7- 8) and High School (grades 9-12) is available at: www.ststb.ca.

Students attending the following schools (below) in September 2020 are required to have the application completed by April 30, 2020.

Lakehead Public Schools:

  • Hammarskjöld High School
  • Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute
  • Superior Collegiate & Vocational Institute

Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board:

  • Bishop E.Q. Jennings Senior Elementary School
  • Bishop Gallagher Senior Elementary School
  • Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School
  • St. Ignatius High School
  • St. Patrick High School

Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales:

  • École catholique de La Vérendrye
  • École secondaire catholique de La Vérendrye

For Consideration:

  • Senior Elementary school and Secondary school students must reside greater than 1.6 kilometers away from their board-designated school to qualify for busing.
  • School bus stops are farther away for senior elementary and secondary school students – students are expected to walk up to 800 meters to access a bus stop in residential areas.
  • Eligibility is determined solely by STSTB’s software. The current years eligibility tool can be found under the “Eligibility” link found at: www.ststb.ca
  • A student whom chooses to register at a school other than his/her Board designated school, transportation will not be provided.
  • Assigned students who do not ride the bus at least once in any 20 consecutive school day periods are subject to removal from busing, and must reapply in order to be reinstated.
  • Individual student transportation information for all returning students in the 2020-2021 school year will only be available online through the “Parent Portal” found on: www.ststb.ca by the end of June 2020. An announcement will be made when this information is available.

Les Services des transports scolaires de Thunder Bay demandent l'inscription en ligne des élèves admissibles qui ont besoin de transport et qui fréquenteront une école primaire ou secondaire de deuxième cycle l'année prochaine. Dans le but d'assurer un transport sûr, fiable et efficace, ce processus aide à déterminer les itinéraires d'autobus pour la nouvelle année scolaire.

Éléments clés :

  • Les élèves de la 7e à la 12e année doivent résider à plus de 1,6 km de leur école désignée par le conseil scolaire pour être admissibles au transport par autobus ;
  • Les arrêts d'autobus scolaires sont plus éloignés pour les élèves de la 7e à la 12e année - on s'attend à ce qu'ils marchent jusqu'à 800 mètres pour accéder à un arrêt d'autobus dans les zones résidentielles ;
  • L'admissibilité est déterminée uniquement par le logiciel du STSTB. L'outil d'admissibilité de l'année en cours se trouve sous le lien "Admissibilité" au www.ststb.ca
  • Si votre élève choisit de s'inscrire dans une école autre que l'école désignée par le conseil scolaire, le transport ne sera pas assuré ;
  • Les élèves assignés qui ne prennent pas l'autobus au moins une fois au cours d'une période de 20 jours de classe consécutifs peuvent être retirés de l'autobus et doivent présenter une nouvelle demande afin d'être réintégrés ;
  • Les renseignements sur le transport individuel des élèves pour l'année scolaire 2020-2021 ne seront disponibles qu’en ligne sur le "Portail des parents" au www.ststb.ca à la fin juin 2020. Un avis sera affiché lorsque cette information sera disponible.

  • Friday, June 12, 2020: PA Day for all Elementary and Senior Elementary Schools;
  • Friday, June 19 - Thursday, June 25, 2020: TBCDSB & LDSB Secondary School Exams (Note: Afternoon Bus Times - TBCDSB High Schools @ 11:00am, LDSB High Schools @ Normal Time);
  • Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26, 2020: CSDCAB Secondary School Exams (Note: Afternoon buses depart @ 11:15am);
  • Friday, June 26, 2020: PA Day - TBCDSB & LDSB Secondary Schools Only;
  • Friday, June 26, 2020: Last Day of School.
